10 mbps ethernet?  GB ethernet?  10 GigE?  Are you wondering about ip ethernet bandwidth speeds?  The numbers can be confusing because ethernet is available in a couple of different flavors.  Just plain ethernet runs at 10 mb, otherwise known as 10baseT.  Up from there is fast ethernet, which clocks in at 100 mb, or 100baseT.  Leading the pack is gigabit ethernet, running at 1000 mbps, which is also known as 1000baseT.

The minimum speed you can order is 10 mb, but after that one of the nice things is that you can increase it by 1 mbps increments, which gives you a lot of flexibility and you don't have to buy more than you need.

It's important to note that normally these higher speeds on a copper cable are restricted by distance limitations.  The further the distance the lower the speed supported.  But now gigabit ethernet fiber makes any distance possible, because optical fiber has unlimited bandwidth capabilities over long distances.
